Resources for Artists
The Arts in Education Program has provided high quality arts experiences for K-12 students in Hillsborough County Public Schools since 1976. The Arts in Education Program encompasses in-school experiences as well as field trip experiences. We employ professional touring companies and actors, musicians, visual artists, dancers, poets and storytellers to provide in-school performances and workshops through our Artists-in-the-Schools Program. We promote performances and exhibitions and facilitate performance reservations through our Visual and Performing Arts Field Trips Program.
To be considered for one of these programs, you must first contact Peforming Arts Fieldtrips at (813) 272-4763 to discuss your art form and what area of participation would be best for you. The following outlines the requirements/steps for program involvement:
You will be asked to provide your background and information about your program, workshop or performance. Information should include resume, any promotional materials, letters of support, photo and Curriculum Connected Study Guide (if available).
If a review of this material is positive and meets the needs of our programs, you will be asked to provide a free showcase performance or workshop at a school site or local venue, to be reviewed by a small committee.
If the showcase is successful, you will be placed on our proposal list and asked to submit a proposal for the following school year. This proposal is usually submitted in July of each year for the following school year.
Please note: all artists working in the in-school program will be required to comply with background check/fingerprinting guidelines as defined in the Jessica Lunsford Act.
All participating artists and performing companies are required to provide detailed study guides, which contain descriptions of the performance or workshop, curriculum connections, pre- and post-experience activities, discussion questions and information specific to the art form. For further information, please review our “Preparing a Study Guide” information.
